Shopping is fun

I think Carly likes shopping.

Its been quite a week. Carly got her 12 month shots on March 23rd and showed no reaction to any of the shots. But 8 days later she started a reaction to her MMR and Chicken Pox vaccines. All tuesday, wednesday and thursday of this week she had a fever ranging between 101-104. Needless to say we didn't go much of anywhere, I was up a bunch during the nights and I had a FUSSY little girl. Luckily her fever broke by friday morning and she was able to have her MRI and shunt reprogram.

Now to the nitty gritty. Friday Thad and I had her to the hospital at 7am for her MRI. I wasn't able to be with her when they put her out because of the radiation (radiation, pregnancy...not so good) so Thad stayed with her and I watched from the door while she was put under. I better get used to seeing that since it will be a yearly experience. But the test went good, the shunt reprogram went good and we got the results after. Everything with her hydrocephalus is under control and her brain function looks good so far. They did find that she has Chiari One Malformation which right now is non-symptomatic but could be symptomatic in the future. Symptoms could include gagging or major headaches which if she becomes symptomatic could result in surgery to remove the extra bone. We also have to be careful of head trauma, especially at the base of her skull because the extra bone decreases the cushion between her brain and the skull. Also the bone has a higher chance of herniating the cerebellum. We also found that she has Agenesis of the corpus callosum which is a break in the corpus callosum surrounding her brain. We were told that it is the most common defect in children with congenital hydrocephalus and isn't anything too concerning. The major symptoms we could see from this is seizures which we could see from just having hydrocephalus. But the fact of the matter is that we are starting to see the effects of the hydrocephalus and things are starting to appear. We are at the point that we could start seeing other things start to appear that are associated with her hydrocephalus. The Dr's obviously do not hold a crystal ball and even though her brain looks fully functioning, things can change. But we are hopeful that this will be the end of it and she will have full undamaged function of her brain. Because of these new findings she will have an MRI every year to monitor the Chiari. And to top it all off, miss Carlykins developed hives to the anesthesia and looks like a rose bush.

I can't believe my little peanut is 10 months old today. Time is going by so fast!

Christmas Day

Here are some fun pictures from Christmas. We had fun opening presents at our house and then having mom and dad over for breakfast. Carly looked too cute in her bumbo playing with the wrapping paper.

Christmas Parties

For dinner one night mom, dad, Thad, Carly and I went out to Fogo de Chao (a Brazillian steak restaurant). The food there was awesome! After I finished my lamb chop I put the bone on the side of my plate. This little sneak grabbed the bone and started chewing on it! Kept her happy and busy!

We had a pajama party for our ward christmas party. We watched the Polar Express and had a visit from Santa. It was a blast!

Blogging catch up

I've been slacking on blogging so here is my catch up.

Eating can be so exhausting!

Last Saturday Desert Ridge had snow brought in and a bunch of christmas activities for kids so we brought Carly to see the snow. We unfortunately didn't have Cayson last weekend so he didn't get to go with us, too bad cause he would have had a lot of fun. It was fun and Carly was so cute sitting in the snow. After the snow we enjoyed completing our christmas shopping!

We made gingerbread men for family night.

Carly was the cheerleader for decorating. 

Mom, Carly and I went to Malibu the first weekend in December to visit some of her friends from her "Bunny" days. We had a lot of fun with Jenny and Sandy seeing the sights and shopping. Jenny almost lost her house last year during the Malibu fires. The back of her house was burned down some neighbors lost their homes completely. I had never been to Malibu before and it is beautiful there. This picture is at a restaurant called Geoffreys that was majorly overpriced but had the best crab cakes and lobster bisque that I have ever had.

We went for a walk down the hill from Jenny's house and found a house with some pretty gates. My mom brought her extravagant camera and took some beautiful pictures of Carly and I.

Jenny's husband Neel and 5 of their 6 dogs. Check out these names...Mr. Facke, Mama Lodee, Elodee, Portney Foy, Lilly One and not pictured is Luther. They bark and bark and bark!

Mom, Carly and I went to the Santa Monica pier and walked around, went on the ferris wheel, visited the aquarium (Carly touched a starfish) and went shopping at this really cool outdoor shopping center. Oh the shopping, I only wish I had the money to spend!
